The Los Angeles Clippers are looking to the future with new owner Steve Ballmer and trying to leave the chaos that commenced at the end of last season with comments made by former owner Donald Sterling.
Comedian Dave Chappelle gave his two cents on the summer’s Clippers scandal in an interview with GQ Magazine. Chappelle does not think Sterling should have lost the team.
“Ultimately, I don’t think he should have lost his team,” Chappelle said. “I don’t like the idea that someone could record a secret conversation and that a person could lose their assets from that, even though I think what he said was awful.”
Sterling banned from the NBA for life after a conversation between him and his girlfriend V. Stivano was leaked. Sterling said he did not want her to bring black people to games.
“When you think about the intimacy of a situation, like, can a man just chill with his mistress in peace?” Chappelle joked.
The Sterling saga was a black mark for Clippers, which at the time were in the midst of a playoff series against the Golden State Warriors.
At last, the former Microsoft CEO Ballmer bought the team for $2 billion.
