CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A walk along a mountain trail in a national park in southern West Virginia turned harrowing for two teen siblings who were injured after tumbling down a cliff.
Jude and J.B. Browning are recuperating from injuries in Sunday’s accident along a popular hiking area in the New River Gorge National River. It took rescue crews about six hours to remove both from the challenging terrain in darkness.
Thirteen-year-old Jude sustained severely bruised heels and some abrasions from bouncing off tree branches and the angled rock face. He was released from a Charleston hospital Monday and requires the temporary use of a walker.
Nineteen-year-old J.B. was knocked unconscious and broke a few ribs but was back home by Tuesday.
The brothers say they look forward to getting back to the trails.
